What is Gen-Re?

Who can invest via Gen-Re?
Gen-Re is an investment syndicate of passionate investors backing the regenerative agriculture and food movement. We are made up of policymakers, investors, family offices, farmers, entrepreneurs and people like yourself. A syndicate is a group of investors that pools capital into an SPV (special purpose vehicle) to invest in start-ups.
You can invest in Gen-Re. We are led by the mission to make investment accessible to all types of people. We are an investment syndicate so all people need to be classified as sophisticated investors. We use a third-party platform, Odin, that will help you through the accreditation process.

What’s the minimum investment?
We make it accessible to invest - the minimum ticket size if $1k.

What is the investment process?
We expect to share deals every 3-4 weeks over email. You will receive a pitch deck, a Gen-Re Investment Memo (this is not investment advice), as well as other resources that can include webinars. We keep you updated on the process through our WhatsApp group and emails. After reviewing the information, you'll be asked to fill in the deal decision form and complete the investment on Odin - a third party syndicate platform we use.

How does Gen-Re benefit?
We are led by values of accessibility and the democratisation of nature-positive finance. Gen-Re operates primarily on a success fee in the form of carried interest which is 20% of future profits you gain from investment. There is also a 10% flat rate on each investment that primarily goes to fund the third-party platform whilst the remaining supports our operations so that we can see the community flourish.

What is the Gen-Re strategy?
Koen who is one of the Founding Partners of Gen-Re will sponsor the deal (typically $2k). We aim to be the last money-in and follow another lead investor.

Gen-Re invests in a diversity of businesses across the value chain from consumer brands to farms, to tech. We have a global portfolio that focuses on regenerative agriculture and food.

Firstly thank you and welcome. After applying you will receive an email to schedule an onboarding call with Emily the Community Manager. There you can share more about your passion for regenerative agriculture and we can share more about Gen-Re plus you have time for any questions. Following the call, you will be sent an onboarding email, a community handbook and our current deal.

Gen-Re focuses on regenerative, purposeful and profitable founders. We invest solely in businesses that support the regenerative agriculture and food movement.

What's the Gen-Re typical investment size?
Our typical ticket is between $60k - $120k, in pre-seed, seed, and Series A rounds globally.

How does Gen-Re do DD?
Gen-Re evaluates startups as a team and wider network. We discuss internally, connect with the founders if we see promise, speak with other lead investors and look into your data room. We want to be confident that when we bring a deal to the community we can stand beside you and Koen is keen to invest. 😊

How do I pitch our business?

Does Gen-Re lead rounds?
Gen-Re is a growing network of investors. We will never lead rounds, we follow (although we would say we're a leader in building a passionate community for regen investment).
